Pathology Services

What is a pathologist?
A pathologist is a medical doctor with specialty training in the examination and diagnosis of cells and tissues under the microscope that have been removed from the body by various types of biopsy procedures or by laboratory methods such as chemical analyses. Based on detailed characteristics of the cells, a tumor is diagnosed as either benign or malignant.  The pathologist also evaluates the type (classification) and grade (aggressiveness) of the tumor.

Our fellowship trained, board certified pathologists under the direction of Jan C. Kennedy, M.D. have over 20 years of combined experience and are nationally recognized in their field.

In addition to offering the most innovative testing technology available and unsurpassed pathology analysis, Georgia Urology, P.A. pathology services adhere to the highest quality assurance standards.  Our services provide patients with a quicker turnaround time because they do not have to wait for results to be sent from an outside laboratory.

Successful cancer treatment begins with an accurate pathology diagnosis.
It is vital that tissue and blood samples are analyzed by experienced pathologists who are trained to examine, evaluate and diagnosis cancer at an early stage.

At Georgia Urology, our patients can be confident that their pathology and laboratory test results are reliable.  Our urologists rely on the results to guide them in making decisions regarding the best treatment and management of urological disease.
