During the show, Dr. Wilson and host, Dr. Bruce Feinberg, discussed Dr. Wilson’s unique path into the field of urology, her specialty in urogynecology, common patient experiences with pelvic prolapse, and her nonprofit organization—Urology Unbound.
Founded in Spring 2020, Urology Unbound provides education, research, networking opportunities, and mentorship for future and current Black and underrepresented minority medical students. “I have seen a lack of diversity in urology,” says Dr. Wilson. “Urology Unbound is a culmination of my career goals for urology and aims to increase diversity within the field.”
Thus far, the organization has experienced tremendous success—currently working with around 63 medical students across the country, with bigger plans to expand across specialties and offer programs to undergraduate and high school students.
