John Buchanan is board certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He received his bachelor’s degree from Grand Canyon University, where he earned the Principal’s list, a master’s degree from Columbus State University, and an associate degree from Gwinnett Technical College. John comes to Georgia Urology with an emergency department nursing background as a board-certified emergency nurse.

In July of 2021, John received the DAISY (an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) award with five previous nominations: an award given to nurses recognized for an extraordinary act of compassion or a relationship they have created with a patient that truly made a difference. Nominations for the award come from patients, family members, other nurses, or physicians.

As a licensed family nurse practitioner, John treats all patients from pediatric to geriatric. Although men and women share similar urologic health concerns, his focus is men’s pelvic health conditions such as erectile dysfunction, urinary tract infections (UTIs), medical management of kidney stones, prostate pathologies, and urinary incontinence. He is dedicated to assuring a comfortable and professional visit for all patients with consideration to the sensitivity surrounding various urologic conditions.

Outside of work, John enjoys cooking, college football, woodworking, hiking, and being outdoors.
