Dr. Anuj S. Desai received his undergraduate degree with honors in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned his medical degree from Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Desai further specialized in general surgery and completed a urology residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. During his residency, he had the opportunity to learn from world-class urology leaders. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in advanced robotics and urological oncology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC in Los Angeles, California. In his fellowship, Dr. Inderbir Gill, a world-renowned leader in robotics and laparoscopy for urological conditions, mentored him. Dr. Desai received his training in state-of-the-art facilities, where he performed hundreds of robotic surgeries and utilized advanced techniques for robotic surgical management of benign and malignant urological conditions.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Desai proved to be a leading student. He is a recipient of multiple merit-based academic scholarships and distinctions, such as the A. Richard Kendall Award for excellence in urology. As a urology resident, Dr. Desai received the Vincent J. O’Connor Teaching Award for excellence in medical student education and received a prestigious research grant through the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center for his investigation into the mechanisms of prostate cancer development.
An active member of the American Urological Association and Alpha Eta Mu Beta honor society, Dr. Desai has contributed to several manuscripts, abstracts, and textbook chapters. He has presented his work at national conferences, earning him recognition.
Dr. Desai specializes in all areas of general urology, including urological oncology, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), complex kidney stone disease, erectile dysfunction, infertility, and management of urinary symptoms in both men and women. He is trained to perform many urological procedures, including the da Vinci Surgical System, GreenLight Laser™ photo vaporization of the prostate, Rezūm™, UroLift®, Aquablation® Therapy, various kidney stone procedures, laser surgery, sacral nerve stimulation, vasectomy, and a variety of implants.
Dr. Desai has staff privileges at Piedmont Cartersville Hospital.
Dr. Desai, a Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania native, lives in Marietta, Georgia, with his wife, Riya. Dr. Desai has a background as a varsity tennis player and is a Pittsburgh sports enthusiast. He is a racquet sports player, an avid golfer, and enjoys reading, music, and spending time with his family.
