Georgia Urology’s, Dr. Ronald Anglade appeared on “The Weekly Check-Up” on News/Talk WSB Radio on Sunday, September 8th.
In honor of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Anglade and Dr. Bruce Feinberg held an in-depth discussion about the disease in addition to a host of other men’s health issues such as incontinence, the side effects of some prostate cancer treatment medicines, the Urolift procedure, the benefits of urodynamic studies, and drugs that can potentially lower your risk of developing prostate cancer.
The segment primarily focused on the treatment of advanced prostate cancer and how most men who develop it are diagnosed at a late stage. Dr. Anglade stated, “Advanced prostate cancer is generally when the cancer has left the organ. In some instances, it can spread throughout the body: to the bones, to the liver–and many instances it could have spread to the lymph nodes.” Additionally, Dr. Anglade explained how screening guidelines have changed over the years, and that age 40 is when every male should get a PSA and schedule follow up screenings every one to five years. African American men and those with a family history of prostate issues should be screened on an annual basis.
