On Sunday, January 17, 2021, Georgia Urology’s Dr. Bryce Wyatt appeared as a guest on “The Weekly Check-Up” on News/Talk WSB Radio, with special host, Dr. Hal Scherz.
During the show, Dr. Wyatt and Dr. Scherz discussed the medical management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), symptoms and treatments of overactive bladder (OAB), kidney stones, the COVID-19 vaccinations, and answered questions from callers.
BPH — a common prostate condition in men — is caused by the non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate. BPH affects about 50% of men aged between 51 and 60 and up to 90% over 80.
“There are several newer (BPH) treatments we are experts in at Georgia Urology,” says Dr. Scherz. These outpatient, minimally-invasive procedures include UroLift, Rezum, and Aquablation therapy. All of these procedures are available at Georgia Urology. When deciding which procedure is right for you, Dr. Wyatt explains “…after we have determined the size and anatomy of the prostate, we can assess which options will work best for the patient. In general, the size will dictate the invasiveness of the procedure required.”
Dr. Wyatt received his doctorate at the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency in the Department of Urology at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he received several recognitions. In addition to general urology, his specialties are men’s health, kidney stones, and overactive bladder (OAB).

Pediatric urology and managing partner at Georgia Urology, Dr. Scherz, is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons, and one of the original members of the board of directors for the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Ambulatory Surgery Center. He has authored over 75 peer-reviewed articles and written eight book chapters. Dr. Scherz has been recognized as one of Atlanta Top Docs by Atlanta magazine each year since 2009.
