Georgia Urology is pleased to announce that Dr. Andrew Kirsch, a nationally recognized pediatric urologist at Georgia Urology and CEO of Global Continence, Inc., has released his new book aimed at helping families and pediatricians better understand and treat bedwetting, or nocturnal enuresis—a condition affecting millions of children worldwide.
The book, The Ultimate Bedwetting Survival Guide, offers practical insights from decades of clinical experience and original survey data collected from Georgia pediatricians through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). It is an evidence-based guide for parents seeking answers and clinicians seeking a comprehensive resource.
According to a survey led by Dr. Kirsch and published in the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, over 92% of pediatricians believe it is essential or imperative to address bedwetting. However, more than half believe current treatments do not meet families’ needs. Nearly 70% of pediatricians believe finding an effective treatment is the biggest challenge. Even though there are proven treatments like bedwetting alarms and medications for kids under 8, fewer than 2% of pediatricians use them. Most rely on behavioral tips like limiting drinks at night, which only work about 20% of the time. Still, fewer than 2% refer kids aged 8 to 11 to a specialist, even when the problem continues.
“Despite being one of the most common pediatric conditions, bedwetting remains misunderstood and often undertreated,” said Dr. Kirsch. “My goal with this book is to empower families with knowledge and encourage pediatricians to take an active, informed approach to managing enuresis.”
The Ultimate Bedwetting Survival Guide Explores:
Common myths and misconceptions about bedwetting
Personalized treatment strategies including behavioral, pharmacologic, and neuromodulation approaches
Survey-based insights from pediatricians on real-world management practices
Practical tools for clinicians and families to improve treatment adherence and outcomes
Dr. Kirsch has been at the forefront of enuresis study and practice, developing the innovative Soluu Bedwetting Mitigation Device, which his company, Global Continence Inc. (www.globalcontinence.com), developed. This breakthrough device, currently under FDA evaluation, aims to end bedwetting, significantly enhancing the lives of children with enuresis urinary incontinence.
The Ultimate Bedwetting Survival Guide is now available on Amazon.
